Unveiling the Secret: Gaining Complimentary Access to Disney World's Water Parks This Summer
Get ready for a splash-tastic summer at Walt Disney World! With the return of two iconic water parks, Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, guests staying at a Walt Disney World hotel can dive right in and enjoy free admission on their check-in day throughout 2025!
Free Water Park Access
That's right, folks! Your stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel grants you entry to one of these awesome water parks on the day you check-in. The park you can enter is determined by which one is open.
Here's the scoop on when each park will be welcoming guests:
- From April 1 to April 30, only Blizzard Beach is open.
- Typhoon Lagoon starts its run from May 1, 2025, and is expected to remain open through the fall. Exact closing dates haven't been announced yet.
- During the peak of summer, from May 21 through September 7, both water parks will be operational at the same time – a first since 2019! Remember, hours are subject to change, so be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest details.
Park Access and Luggage Storage
After booking your hotel stay, you'll find the admission memo linked to your plans on the Disney World website or app. If you don't need to store your luggage, feel free to head straight to the water park. For those needing storage, first head to your resort hotel, drop off your bags with bell services, then either pick them up upon your return or have them brought straight to your room once you check-in.
Upon arrival at the water park, use your MagicBand, Key to the World card, or Disney MagicMobile pass to gain access.
Fun fact! If you're doing a split stay at Walt Disney World, meaning you're checking into one hotel at the beginning of your trip and then moving to a second hotel, you might score two free water park days, as long as both hotels are part of the Disney Resorts Collection.
Water Park Perks for Hotel Guests
In addition to free entry, Disney hotel guests can also enjoy complimentary towel rentals from Snowless Joe's or Beach Haus at Blizzard Beach, and Singapore Sal's or High 'N Dry Rentals at Typhoon Lagoon. Life jackets are available for all water park guests at no additional cost.
Getting to the Water Parks
There are several options for transportation to the water parks:
- Drive yourself (either your personal or rental vehicle) – parking at both Disney World water parks is free!
- Ride-share or Minnie Van, Disney's private ride-share service operated through Lyft.
- Disney's bus transportation – follow the steps below based on which water park is currently operational:
a. If it's Blizzard Beach, take the bus to Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park and then transfer to a bus for the water park. Service starts about 30 minutes before the water park opens and ends about an hour after closing. For guests staying at Disney's All-Star Resorts or Disney's Coronado Springs, there is a direct bus service to Blizzard Beach.
b. To get to Typhoon Lagoon from all Disney hotels, take the bus to Disney Springs and then transfer to a bus to the water park. Service begins about 45 minutes before the park opens and ends an hour after closing.
Tips for Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon
- Blizzard Beach offers a unique winter ski resort theme with a fun twist. Enjoy attractions such as a chairlift, lazy river, and "Frozen"-themed kids' splash area, as well as thrilling body slides like Summit Plummet, the world's tallest and fastest free-fall body slide.
- Disney's Typhoon Lagoon boasts a tropical theme and raft rides, including water coasters, a whitewater adventure raft ride, and a 2,000-foot-long lazy river.
To ensure the best possible experience, aim to arrive at the park about 30 minutes before the official opening time. This will almost guarantee finding beach chairs near your favorite attractions. Additionally, if you're taking Disney transportation to the water parks, consider packing an extra set of dry clothes to change into after your watery escapades. You'll want to stay dry on the bus ride back to your hotel!
For the ultimate water park day, consider renting a cabana – called Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon and Polar Patios at Blizzard Beach. Cabana rentals come with a dedicated server, seating for up to six people, a dedicated locker, and refillable soda mugs. And when you're hungry, just let your server know, and meals will be delivered right to your cabana!
