The Upcoming Clayface Film Scores a Set Release Date
The year 2024 concludes with a DC-centric vibe, hinting at an upcoming Superman trailer and the official release dates of two forthcoming DC productions. These movies revolve around Batman, with the intriguing revelation of Clayface, a movie scripted by Mike Flanagan based on a hitherto unknown Batman villain. This film is slated for September 11, 2026. The second announcement pertains to the animated Robin movie, or more accurately, Dynamic Duo. It's scheduled for release on June 30, 2028.
Following these, Superman is set to debut on July 11, 2025, and Supergirl: World of Tomorrow on June 26, 2026. Interestingly, Clayface is set to edge ahead of Matt Reeves's 2022-announced sequel, The Batman Part II, which as of now, is scheduled for October 2, 2026. However, there's a strong suspicion that the date for The Batman Part II might change.
James Gunn, DC Studios' co-president, has confirmed Clayface's greenlight and its integration into the DCU. There's currently no information on who will direct, but since Flanagan is engaged in a new take on The Exorcist, due on March 13, 2026, he may not be an option.
As of now, the initial four movies in the DC Universe encompass both Superman and Batman titles. The puzzling aspect, however, is that while Batman is present, he does not seem to be the main character in either film. This situation coincides with Sony's conclusion of its separate Spider-Verse with Kraven the Hunter, releasing in the same weekend. The difference being that DC has the privilege of utilizing Batman when necessary. Additionally, one of the films will be an animated feature, using puppets.
It's worth noting that none of these new productions featured among the projects announced by Gunn and Peter Safran two years back when they assumed control of DC. This means projects such as Brave and the Bold and The Authority still remain in the pipeline.
