- "The IndividualIdentifiedAsDreamer" Secures the Golden Bear Award in 2025
At the 75th Berlin Film Festival, Norwegian director Dag Johan Haugerud's film, "Drømmer" (internationally titled as "Dreams (Sex Love)"), clinched the coveted Golden Bear award. This triumphant night also saw other notable culminations.
Inspired by love and sexuality, Haugerud's trilogy culminates in "Drømmer," a coming-of-age tale about a young woman named Johanne (Ella Øverbye). When her teacher's feelings aren't reciprocated, she pours her emotions and fantasies into a novel, inspired by her mother and grandmother.
Brazil's Gabriel Mascaro took home the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize with his film, "O último azul" ("The Blue Trail"). The Argentine film, "El mensaje" ("The Message"), by Iván Fund, was awarded the Silver Bear Jury Prize, while Chinese filmmaker Huo Meng's social panorama, "Sheng xi zhi di" ("Living the Land"), was honored with the Silver Bear for Best Director.
Australian actress Rose Byrne bagged the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance for her work in "If I Had Legs I’d Kick You," while Irish actor Andrew Scott, starring in the chamber play "Blue Moon," received recognition for his supporting role, acknowledging the audience via a video message.
The creative ensemble of Lucile Hadžihalilović's film, "La Tour de Glace" ("The Ice Tower"), was rewarded for an outstanding artistic achievement. Radu Jude, the 2021 Golden Bear winner, added another Silver Bear for the screenplay of "Kontinental '25."
Brandon Kramer's "Holding Liat" took home the Best Documentary award. The film tells the story of former Hamas hostage Liat Beinin Atzili, adding a thought-provoking spin to the documentary category.

In addition to Haugerud's triumph, other Norwegian filmmakers also had notable successes during the festival. Rose Byrne, an actress from Australia, received the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance for her role in a film titled "If I Had Legs I’d Kick You," which also features a bear character named Azul.
