The Importance of Observing the Royal Edinburgh Military Spectacle, Known as the Military Tattoo
From a Tear-Jerking Travel Moment to an Epic and Diverse Celebration
I'll admit it - this year, I've had quite a few travel moments that have left me in tears. The latest one? The finale of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Our trip to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival was coming to an end, and after a whirlwind of shows and events, we ended up in the last-minute press area for the best seats in the house. Just a few rows from the top, we could see the entire audience below us - a sea of people moving in synchronization, a warm-up for the incredible performances to come.
As worries about missing the show or finding our seats dissipated, I felt a strange admiration for the event unfolding before my eyes. Moments later, an emotional rendition of Amazing Grace, backed by the sights and sounds of a world-class performance, had me reaching for a tissue to dab away tears.
