SWISS Unveils Summer 2021 Schedule: More European Destinations, Long-Haul Flights Resume

SWISS has outlined its summer 2021 flight schedule, with a gradual resumption of services following the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline anticipates a significant increase in European destinations and a return to long-haul flights.

SWISS expects air travel activity to pick up from mid-summer at the earliest. The airline plans to launch five new short-haul European routes over the coming months. From Geneva (GVA), Santorini (JTR) will receive two nonstop flights a week from June 19, and Split (SPU) in Croatia will have 2X-weekly services from July 2. Meanwhile, from Zurich (ZRH), Niš (INI) in Serbia and Sarajevo (SJJ) in Bosnia and Herzegovina will each receive up to two flights a week from April 1. Long-haul flights will also resume, with up to 4X-weekly flights to Cairo (CAI) from July 1. Additionally, SWISS will fly to Tallinn (TLL) from June 25 and to Billund (BLL) from July 2, with both destinations receiving 2X-weekly flights. Long-haul flights to the US will also resume, with flights to Miami (MIA) from March 28, Boston (BOS) from May 1, and Los Angeles (LAX) from May 2, with up to 7X-weekly flights to BOS.

Two new routes are being launched from ZRH and three from GVA. London City (LCY) returns on May 12, with 12X-weekly flights planned, and a 5X-weekly service to Bordeaux (BOD) resumes on June 18.

During the summer 2021 season, SWISS will serve a total of 85 destinations from Zurich (ZRH) and 43 from Geneva (GVA). The airline's expansion reflects a cautious optimism in the recovery of air travel following the pandemic.
