Foreign tourists and other foreign nationals can still visit the pool, but they must possess a special entry card. This card requires proof of local accommodation, such as a hotel or camping reservation in the Pruntrut area.
These regulations were introduced in response to reports of harassment, inappropriate behaviour, and disturbances, which prompted local authorities to enforce stricter controls. A municipal representative stated that foreign tourists staying in a hotel or campsite in the region can still visit the pool with a issued card.
Under the new rules, Swiss citizens, Swiss residents, and individuals with Swiss employment contracts are allowed without restrictions. Foreign tourists, on the other hand, are only allowed with a special entry card, which requires proof of local accommodation. The restrictions aim to prevent disturbances and ensure safety at the pool, especially due to issues caused by certain foreign visitors.
The pool restrictions in Pruntrut are temporary, lasting until the end of August 2023. The restriction does not apply to tourists staying in hotels or campsites in the region. The municipality of Pruntrut, with a population of 6,000, is reserving its public pool for Swiss citizens, residents with a work permit, and foreign tourists staying in the region.
