Ranking the most security-conscious budget airline options globally:

In an era where safety is paramount, AirAdvisor, a world-renowned advocate for air passenger rights, has released its annual Global Airline Safety Rankings for 2025. The rankings highlight the top low-cost airlines that have demonstrated exceptional safety performance.

Leading the pack is HK Express, the safest low-cost airline for 2025. The UAE's flydubai follows closely in fourth place, while Australia's Jetstar Group takes the second spot, and Singapore's Scoot ranks third.

Anton Radchenko, the head of AirAdvisor, argues that travelers have the right to know which airlines stand out as best-in-class in terms of safety. He emphasises the importance of providing society with relevant information about airline safety.

The rankings are the result of a comprehensive analysis of over 300 airlines, considering factors such as safety and fatality records, operational safety systems, fleet age, pilot qualifications, and financial stability. Criteria also include certification and audit performance, the age and maintenance of the fleet, safety-focused organisational culture, and the financial and operational stability of the companies.

AirAdvisor's CEO Anton Radchenko highlights that many low-cost carriers excel in safety because they often operate newer aircraft, have simpler route structures, and prioritise safety comparably to traditional carriers.

These airlines were highlighted for their impeccable safety records and strong safety culture, including ongoing training and strategic investments in safety. AirAsia, IndiGo, and ZIPAIR, which performed well due to their high standards of regulatory compliance and efficient operating models, are also among the top-ranked carriers.

However, not all low-cost carriers fared as well. Ryanair, Frontier Airlines, and Wizz Air are ranked lower due to their positions in the rankings. EasyJet's lower score is mainly due to the age of its fleet and the complexity of its operations. Jet2.com and Eurowings ended the list in the last positions of the ranking.

The CEO of AirAdvisor, Anton Radchenko, states that flying has never been safer. He cites the low fatality rate in commercial aviation as evidence of its safety. According to IATA, the number of road deaths in Europe alone is much higher than the number of fatal accidents in commercial aviation. In 2022, there were only five fatal accidents in commercial aviation, resulting in a fatality rate of 0.000016%.

In conclusion, for travellers looking for low-cost airlines with the best safety performance in 2025, HK Express, Jetstar, Scoot, and flydubai stand out as the safest choices according to AirAdvisor's authoritative rankings. These airlines have proven their commitment to safety and their ongoing efforts to lead the industry in terms of safety culture, ongoing training, and strategic investment.

In the 2025 Global Airline Safety Rankings by AirAdvisor, Portugal's airline portfolio received notable mention due to the top-ranked performance of HK Express, which was acknowledged as the safest low-cost airline globally. Furthermore, the announcements about these rankings underscored the importance of disseminating information about airline safety, a critical aspect of travel decision-making for individuals, and a priority for AirAdvisor.
