Pupils from Yakutia embark on a journey to Ankara, Turkey, for the Global Science and Cultural Event of the Turkic World
In the heart of Turkey's capital, Ankara, a significant cultural event is underway. The 4th World Festival of Science and Culture of the Turkic World is currently being held, bringing together more than 100 children from 15 Turkic countries to celebrate shared heritage, scientific achievements, and cultural ties.
Among these international delegates are three schoolchildren from Yakutia, a region in eastern Russia. Their trip to Ankara was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the League of Yakutia Fathers, led by Aykhal Gabyshev.
The group is led by Dmitry Ivanov, editor of the Kıym.ru website, and includes Anton Alekseev (7th grade), Sayana Kobiakova (6th grade), and Yevgeny Yevstigneev (4th grade). These students, hailing from large families, have been invited to defend their projects at the festival, which runs from March 4 to 7.
Maria Christoforova, People's Deputy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and General Director of LLC "Media Group 'City'", recommended these students' participation and expressed good wishes for their success. She also expressed anticipation for their return, hoping they would bring victories and new experiences from the festival.
It is worth noting that three projects from these Yakutian students made it to the final selection, earning them an invitation to the on-site stage of the festival in Ankara.
The governor of Ankara, Gungor Azim Tun, has assisted in the participation of the Yakutian schoolchildren, further emphasising Ankara's role as a cultural hub for the Turkic world.
The "World Festival of Science and Culture of the Turkic World" is a recurring event that celebrates the shared heritage, scientific achievements, and cultural ties among Turkic-speaking countries and communities. This year's festival is likely to feature scientific conferences, cultural exhibitions, performances, and workshops involving scholars, artists, and cultural representatives from Turkic states and diasporas.
For more detailed information about the festival’s date, participants, program, and outcomes, it is recommended to consult official announcements from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Turkic Council (International Organization of Turkic Culture - TÜRKSOY), or the Ankara municipality websites.
