Promotional Material Previews Sam's Challenges as Captain America in Brave New World
Update: It seems Marvel UK has a longer version of the Brave New World promo video. This extended clip provides a sneak peek into Sidewinder's assault on Sam, which is absent from the shorter US version. Furthermore, it omits the teaser revealing Joaquin's transformation into the Falcon as the Falcon, like in the shorter version.
Original story: With less than two months to go before the release of Captain America: Brave New World, Marvel is ramping up promotions for the Anthony Mackie-led film. Similar to the rollout for Thunderbolts, they have produced a "special look" that serves as another trailer or commercial for the film.
The special look primarily focuses on Sam's emotional journey as the new Captain America. With President Thaddeus Ross (portrayed by Harrison Ford) urging Sam to serve as a US government asset, he tugs on Sam's patriotic heartstrings. Though we know Ross will eventually be shot by Isaiah Bradley, and Sam will investigate the attack and delve into the culprits' motives, according to Samuel Sterns' (Tim Blake Nelson's character) words, Sam might be unaware of the challenges ahead, including encountering Giancarlo Esposito's Sidewinder and the transformation of President Ross into the Red Hulk. (Considering the president's sudden change into a raging inferno, it's hard to anticipate such a scenario.)
Though it features limited new footage, this promo offers a firsthand look at the new Falcon, Joaquin Torres. With Danny Ramirez's character from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we see Joaquin donning high-tech wings and stepping into Sam's role. Previous trailers primarily showed Joaquin in his civilian attire or only briefly displayed his suit. As the film borrows from the spy thriller style of Winter Soldier, which first introduced Mackie's hero, the symbiosis remains complete.
(Captain America: Brave New World) hits theaters on February 14, 2025. Besides the special look, Marvel released a new poster showcasing the principal cast below.
