Prepare to include Ninjago among the live-action Lego films in development.

Recently, you might have heard about Universal officially announcing a trio of live-action Lego films, set to be directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman 1984), Joe Cornish (The Kid Who Would Be King), and Jake Kasdan (Red One). However, it seems we've all been misled, as there are actually not three, but four live-action Lego movies in development.

Among the recent news is Lego's plan to breathe life into its Ninjago toy line. While a director has yet to be chosen, brothers Kevin and Dan Hageman, known for their work on Star Trek Prodigy, have been tasked with writing the script. The duo has previous experience with the franchise, having created and executive produced the first nine seasons of the CG series on Cartoon Network (later moving to Netflix). The film's plot remains shrouded in mystery.

The Ninjago series, which began in 2011, follows a team of color-coded ninjas, each with unique elemental powers like fire, ice, and earth. The team includes a robot ninja and is trained in the art of "spinjitzu." Their mission is to protect the city from evil forces such as Lord Garmadon (Lloyd's father), time-traveling elemental masters, and biker gangs. Both the toy line and show continue to be popular. Interestingly, when Lego movies were first being made, Ninjago was the brand's first original creation to receive a theatrical film release, which unfortunately became the series' first box office disappointment.

Let us speculate on how these new live-action Lego movies, including Ninjago, will perform. Feel free to share your thoughts below.
