In channelling Anthony Mackie's transformation into Captain America for "Captain America: Brave New World," it was crucial to not only assume the mantle but also to incorporate Sam Wilson's personal experiences. During an interview with BlackTreeTV, Mackie shed light on the collaboration with director Julius Onah, explaining, "Empathy and compassion" were the key words that sprung up during filming. Mackie discussed his focus on emphasising Wilson's compassionate and empathetic nature, aiming to show fans the character's growth throughout each movie.

The path that led Wilson to his formidable role in "Captain America: Brave New World" was paved by Marvel fans' fidelity. His journey began as a counsellor and facilitator for soldiers, a role Mackie held dear throughout the storyline, proving vital in their ultimate adaptation. The actor emphasised it was crucial for Sam Wilson to fully accept and embody the shield, with no doubt remaining that he was the true Captain America.

Mackie ventured to normalise Wilson's representation, recognising its importance amidst the current political climate. He explained that representation provided an opportunity for the public to view iconic figures in a different light, such as seeing a Black man in the role of Captain America. Mackie also stated that the character's traits encompassed more than just being American, expressing a deeper symbolism that resonated with both Chris Evans' sentiments and the movie's audience.

Looking back on his childhood heroes, Mackie drew inspiration from Superman, specifically Chris Reeve's portrayal. Without regard for ethnicity or his extraterrestrial origins, Mackie connected with the humanity of the character, demonstrating that heroism transcends racial and cultural barriers.

Sam Wilson embodied the best aspects of humanity, characteristics that resonated with the audience. Mackie elaborated, "Sam Wilson is the best part of all of us. And that's what people gravitate to and that's what people connect with."

"Captain America: Brave New World" is set for release on February 14th, offering audiences further insights into Mackie's nuanced portrayal of the character. As the narrative explores themes of legacy, morality, and identity, Mackie's performance promises to add another captivating chapter to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In preparing for his role in 'Captain America: Brave New World', Mackie revealed his inspiration came from watching Chris Reeve's portrayal of Superman on IO9, highlighting the timeless appeal of technology-driven superhero movies. As the future of Sam Wilson's Captain America unfolds, fans can expect a continuation of the character's compassionate and empathetic nature, further demonstrated through his journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's movies.
