LEGO's 3,251-piece Italian Riviera Kit Infuses Sunlight and Ice Cream to Your Shelf This Summer

The LEGO Group is set to launch a new architectural marvel, the LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera set (21359). This 3,251-piece creation, designed by fan Alex Sahli, pays homage to the picturesque Ligurian coast's Cinque Terre region in Italy.

The set features three colorful, angled buildings with removable roofs and upper stories for detailed interior access. These structures boast intricate details and textural variety, with vibrant colors, stonework, and tile roofing. The buildings house a gelato shop, a diving gear store, a fresh seafood shop, and homes for the storekeepers.

The set includes ten minifigures, each representing unique characters such as a pasta-making nonna, a gelato vendor, and a fisherman, offering a glimpse into the everyday coastal life.

LEGO designers have employed impressive building techniques, particularly in the roofing and facade details, for an aged appearance. The interiors are accessible at street-level, with detailed shops and homely touches, creating a modular feel comparable to LEGO Modular Buildings but with an organic, less rectangular layout.

The set also includes unique elements such as a light aqua rowboat with motor and oars, and a dark turquoise scooter, adding to the scene's authenticity and play/display value. The waterfront area features market stalls, benches, and small vignettes of village life.

The LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera set will be priced at $299.99 (£249.99/€279.99) and will be available starting August 7, 2025, for LEGO Insiders, with general release following on August 10. Early purchasers will receive a bonus Gift with Purchase: the Italian Market Van (5009422), a 142-piece model of a delivery vehicle heading to market.

This set is praised for its charming representation of a Mediterranean village, the architectural complexity of angled buildings, and the vibrant, richly textured aesthetic. However, it is noted for its higher price point compared to similar-sized modular sets.

Overall, the LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera set offers an immersive and sophisticated building experience celebrating Italian coastal culture and architecture, making it ideal for fans of detailed cityscapes and architecture models. The set's stone quay is designed with an authentic-looking cobblestone street using textured pieces, and tiny details like flowerpots, hanging laundry, and window shutters contribute to the lived-in feel of the set.

The model includes terracotta roofs, flower-adorned balconies, and crystal-blue waters, capturing the timeless appeal of the Italian coast, no passport required. A small fishing boat is included in the set, bobbing in translucent blue water elements.

The LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera set is now available for serious LEGO enthusiasts and Italophiles alike. This sun-drenched Ligurian village scene is a must-have for any LEGO collection.
