ICU and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Teaming Up to Unveil 'MISSION CRITICAL': A Vision for India, Pandemic-Prepared by 2047
In a significant move towards enhancing India's healthcare infrastructure, Mission ICU and CPR have joined forces to equip hospitals in underserved communities with critical care facilities. This collaboration, announced on September 19, 2025, marks a significant step towards transforming India's healthcare landscape.
Co-founded by Dr. Satya Garimella and Krishna Kottapalli during the peak of the pandemic, CPR has been instrumental in identifying hospitals in need and mobilizing resources for underprivileged communities. Meanwhile, Mission ICU, established by Dr. Ashwin Naik, Maanoj Shah, and Dr. Edmond Fernandes during the COVID-19 pandemic, has a mission to fund and deploy critical care medical equipment to hospitals.
The partnership is not limited to immediate aid. On October 9, 2025, Mission ICU and CPR will host a national conference named "Mission Critical: Envisioning Pandemic-Ready India by 2047". This conference aims to bring together policymakers, healthcare leaders, CSR heads, researchers, and innovators to co-develop an actionable roadmap for India's long-term pandemic preparedness and critical care resilience by 2047.
The conference will address critical pillars of preparedness such as accessible critical care infrastructure, disease surveillance and data integration, resilient healthcare systems, healthcare innovation, equitable access to care, and coordinated governance. The expected outcome of the conference is the creation of the National 2047 Pandemic Preparedness Roadmap, a living document outlining strategies, policy recommendations, and partnerships to ensure sustainable healthcare solutions.
The collaboration's initiatives aim to ensure economic and social stability by being prepared for future pandemics. CPR has already donated critical care infrastructure to hospitals such as AIIMS Bibinagar (Telangana) and Samarpan Children's Hospital (Maharashtra), benefiting underprivileged communities in semi-urban and rural India. Mission ICU, on the other hand, has deployed 220 ICU beds in 22 locations across 10 different states, primarily focusing on rural India's healthcare infrastructure.
The long-term vision of the collaboration is to foster collaborative action across sectors to build healthcare systems that are inclusive, accessible, and future-ready. The conference will include institutions such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the National Institute of Virology (NIV), and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to create a long-term pandemic preparedness and critical care readiness package for India.
Mission ICU and CPR are committed to closing the urban-rural healthcare gap by bringing together healthcare professionals, philanthropists, and citizens. The conference aims to engage stakeholders and participants beyond the event, working closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, and funding bodies to ensure that the recommendations lead to actionable interventions.
With this partnership, Mission ICU and CPR are taking a significant step towards ensuring a pandemic-ready India by 2047, furthering their shared goal of transforming India's healthcare landscape.
