Omani Passport Strength Soars: Visa-Free Access to 88 Countries

In a significant leap forward, Omani passport holders now have visa-free travel access to approximately 88 countries, according to the Henley Passport Index[1][3]. This improvement in the passport’s strength and global mobility ranking has propelled Oman to the 56th position worldwide.

Key developments enhancing this access in 2025 include:

  • Visa-Free Access to China: Starting June 9, 2025, Omanis can enter China visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, business, family visits, and cultural exchanges, as part of a broader Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) inclusion by China alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain[1][2][4].
  • Mutual Visa Exemption with Russia: Since July 18, 2025, Oman and Russia have a mutual visa exemption agreement for short-term visits, allowing Omanis visa-free entry to Russia as well[1].
  • Other Visa-Free Destinations: Omanis can travel without prior visa to numerous countries across different continents, including:
  • Middle East & Asia: Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, Türkiye, Thailand
  • Europe & Eurasia: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Russia, Ukraine
  • Americas & Caribbean: Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Dominica, Ecuador, Haiti, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Suriname
  • Africa: Botswana, Egypt, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Zambia
  • Oceania: Cook Islands, Micronesia, Niue, Vanuatu, Turks and Caicos Islands[1][3]
  • Visa on Arrival and eVisa Options: Beyond visa-free countries, Omanis benefit from simplified access through visas on arrival and expanded eVisa and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) facilities globally, easing travel procedures[3].

This progressive increase in visa-free destinations and enhanced agreements highlight Oman’s growing diplomatic relations and international integration, particularly within the GCC framework and with global partners such as China and Russia[1][3][4].

In addition to the visa-free countries, Omanis need to obtain an electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travel to 5 countries, including Kenya, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, ST Kitts and Nevis, and the United Kingdom[3].
