Emirates SkyCargo Expands Presence in East and Southeast Asia

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates Airlines, is making significant strides in East and Southeast Asia by expanding its cargo capacity, routes, and partnerships. This strategic move aims to meet the rising demand and enhance global logistics connectivity in these regions.

The company's growth strategy includes operating over 44 dedicated freighter flights, 13 charter flights, and 311 passenger flights weekly in East and Southeast Asia. This expansion provides over 21,000 tonnes of cargo capacity across 25 gateways in 12 countries[1][4]. This increase in capacity supports the exponential growth in demand for shipments of electronics, garments, fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce parcels[1].

Emirates SkyCargo has also launched new freighter routes, such as the first direct scheduled freighter link between Dubai and Tokyo’s Narita Airport in 2025, facilitating faster shipping of sensitive goods like pharmaceuticals and semiconductor parts[2]. The airline pioneered direct freighter services between Dubai and Shanghai since 2002[2].

To enhance regional and global connectivity, Emirates SkyCargo formed a strategic partnership with Teleport, the cargo partner of AirAsia. This partnership unlocks access to over 100 regional airports across Southeast Asia, increasing flexibility and market access for customers both within Asia and to global markets including Europe, the US, and Canada[2].

Emirates SkyCargo maintains a flight approximately every 30 minutes from East and Southeast Asia, underscoring its commitment to reliable, frequent services supporting just-in-time and global supply chain demands[4].

The company's long-term growth plan prioritizes East and Southeast Asia for continuous capacity increases, new routes, and deeper connections with key global markets. This focus aims to reinforce the region’s role in global logistics and bilateral economic growth[2][5].

In summary, Emirates SkyCargo is strengthening supply chains, supporting regional exporters and importers, and solidifying its role as a critical cargo hub linking Asia with Europe, North America, and beyond. The partnership with Teleport enhances global connectivity for regional businesses, providing greater capacity and flexibility for customers worldwide[1][2][4].

Additionally, Emirates SkyCargo has launched passenger services to Hangzhou, China, as part of its 10-year growth strategy. In 2025, Emirates SkyCargo introduced the first scheduled freighter between Japan's Narita International Airport and the Middle East[2]. The airline's "Aerial Silk Road" network connects the region with more than 145 destinations worldwide.
