Flights to and from Gelendzhik have been re-routed to the Ministry of Water due to the powerful wind conditions.
Gelendzhik Airport, located in the picturesque city-resort of Krasnodar Krai, has seen a surge in passenger traffic over the past three months. A total of 77,000 passengers have passed through its gates, contributing to the nationwide trend of increased air travel.
According to the latest data, a staggering 33 million people became airline passengers from June to August across Russia. This surge in travel has prompted Ural Airlines to resume direct flights to the Kuban capital from both Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
However, the weather conditions at Gelendzhik Airport have posed challenges, causing the air hub to temporarily halt the acceptance and release of flights. This unfortunate turn of events has affected not one, but two UTair flights, UT397 and UT398, which have been diverted to a backup airport due to the adverse weather conditions.
Despite this setback, Ural Airlines has not been deterred. They have opened ticket sales for flights to Krasnodar, offering passengers a chance to visit the beautiful city-resort. After landing in Mineralnye Vody, flight UT398 will depart for Moscow (Vnukovo) from the same location. Meanwhile, flight UT397 from Moscow (Vnukovo) to Gelendzhik will land in Mineralnye Vody.
The press service of Gelendzhik Airport has reported a change in the flight schedule due to the weather conditions. While the search results do not currently provide information about the name of the backup airport to which the two Utair flights were diverted, passengers are advised to keep a close eye on their flight status for updates.
As the weather improves and conditions become favourable, Gelendzhik Airport is expected to resume its normal operations, welcoming more passengers to the city-resort and facilitating the resumption of Ural Airlines' flights to and from Krasnodar.
