Dubai Boosts Cashless Tourism with Emirates and flydubai Partnership

Dubai's Department of Finance (DOF) has partnered with Emirates and flydubai to boost mobile transactions among international tourists. This initiative, part of Dubai's Economic Agenda (D33), aims to achieve 90% mobile transactions by 2026, with projected annual economic growth boost of over AED 8 billion. Among us, the Dubai Cashless Strategy, launched under D33, seeks to drive fintech innovation and competitiveness. It aims to reach 90% mobile transactions across both government and private sectors by the end of 2026. Emirates and flydubai, two major airlines in Dubai, have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with DOF to promote this strategy among international tourists. The partnership will leverage DOF's connections to government departments and the airlines' mobile payment expertise. Emirates offers 14 payment gateways and Skywards, a 100% digital currency, for earning and redeeming benefits. By encouraging mobile payments, the strategy is projected to boost economic growth by more than AED 8 billion annually through innovative financial technology services. Through these MoUs, Emirates and flydubai will collaborate with DOF to enhance expertise exchange and explore joint marketing campaigns. The goal is to promote mobile payment adoption among international tourists, driving Dubai's mobile economy forward.
