Around a month ago, the world was captivated by the rise of the movie titled Sinister, and it wasn't long until we discovered that its sequel would be known as Sinister: Redeemed. Universal Studio hasn't disclosed any details about the sequel yet, but that hasn't stopped its co-lead, Cynthia Erivo, from sharing some exciting insights about the film's changes, particularly in the music.

During a talk on Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast, Erivo spoke about her journey portraying the character Elphaba, who transforms into the notorious Wicked Witch. One intriguing detail she revealed was their collaboration with the composer of the original play and film, Stephen Schwartz, to generate a new song for her character. She hinted, "the title alone is heart-wrenching. I'm not sure if you're prepared for it. The entire cast and crew were emotional during filming. I hope the audience is ready—it's a song that encapsulates the very essence of Elphaba."

You might have forgotten, but back in 2022, Schwartz announced that there would be a couple of new songs for the second half of Sinister, designed to complement the storytelling. The primary modifications in the music from the first movie revolved around the characters and settings, since it was no longer a stage musical. However, aside from these changes, the songs remained mostly the same. Introducing new songs for Elphaba and Glinda keeps the musical fresh for both old and new fans, and lends an air of specialness to Sinister: Redeemed. And let's not forget, these new tunes will surely make for an exciting sing-along session when the film's version becomes available.

However, before we can enjoy Sinister: Redeemed, we have to wait until November 21, 2025. But if you've been waiting to watch the first film from the comfort of your own home, you're in luck! It will be available digitally as of New Year's Eve.
