Cambodia Boosts Youth Climate Action with New Partnership
The Ministry of Environment in Cambodia has joined forces with the Chen Zhi Climate Action Challenge to boost youth involvement in environmental projects. The partnership aims to foster scalable, community-based climate solutions, aligning with Cambodia's national strategies and global commitments.
The Chen Zhi Climate Action Challenge offers a range of support, including technical training, mentorship, and seed funding, to teams developing solutions in key areas such as Renewable Energy, Nature-Based Solutions, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security. These focus areas directly address climate risks in vulnerable rural communities, reflecting Cambodia's National Environmental Strategy and Action Plan.
The initiative, led by Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, is backed by leading experts like Leangsrun Chea, Lyhour Hin, Hunsopheary Hul, and Jun Fujihira. It seeks to inspire and empower youth innovators, contributing to Cambodia's national commitment to a clean, green, and sustainable future, and aligning with the Paris Agreement and UN SDG 13: Climate Action.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Ministry of Environment and the Chen Zhi Climate Action Challenge. Outreach will extend to universities, technical schools, and youth networks across Cambodia to ensure broad access to the challenge.
The Chen Zhi Climate Action Challenge, supported by the Ministry of Environment, is set to empower Cambodian youth to develop practical climate solutions. Further details on applications and program timelines will be announced on the challenge's official Facebook page.
