Borken District & Police Launch Senior Cycling Safety Events
The Borken district and local police are launching a series of cycling safety events for seniors. The first event is set for October 9, 2025, in Bocholt, with another scheduled for October 30, 2025, in the Ahaus area. These events, part of ongoing prevention work, will take place regularly in the future.
The initiative aims to tackle accident hotspots in the district and educate older cyclists about potential risks. With the Borken district boasting the highest Pedelec ownership rate nationwide, safety awareness is paramount. Participants will learn crucial safety tips, such as navigating intersections and roundabouts, using bike lanes effectively, and essential safety equipment.
Registration for the events is limited to twelve people per session and can be done by calling 02861-900-6161. Despite the lack of specific information on the event's initiator or responsible party, the district and police have collaborated to ensure the success of these events.
The senior cycling safety events in Borken aim to create a safer cycling environment for older residents. With regular events planned, the district and police hope to significantly reduce accidents and promote safer cycling practices among seniors.
