Beware, savvy shoppers: You've stumbled upon an incredibly inexpensive parking spot in Sylt.

Sylt, a popular vacation destination in Germany, attracts both celebrities and thousands of tourists annually. However, finding free parking can be a challenge for visitors, especially during peak season. Here's a breakdown of the available free parking options on the island.

In Westerland, several parking lots are free to use, including Stadumstraße, Rote-Kreuz-Straße, and Schützenstraße, which are close to the center. The Nuurjen parking lot, Uthlandstraße, and Campingplatz Westerland also offer free parking. Jugendherberge Westerland, a hostel in Westerland, offers free private parking for guests.

However, many hotels and resorts on Sylt, such as TUI BLUE Sylt, provide paid parking rather than free options. As a result, tourists are often advised to use paid parking lots or hotel parking facilities.

Free public tourist parking is not prominently listed and may be limited due to the island’s popularity and regulations. For more specific free parking locations, it is recommended to check local municipal websites for Sylt or the town of Westerland for any designated free parking areas for visitors.

In Keitum, free parking is available at the entrance to the west, at the church St. Severin, and at Am Tipkenhoog. In Tinnum, the parking lots in Boy-Peter-Eben-Weg and Vogteiweg are free.

It's worth noting that half a day costs 1.50 euros, and a day costs 2.50 euros, as reported by the "shz". Parking at the train stations in Keitum and Morsum, as well as at the airport in Tinnum, costs 2.50 euros for one day, 6 euros for two days, and 8 euros for three days.

An exception on the island is List, where no parking lots are operated, as explained by a municipal spokesman. In Wenningstedt-Braderup, free parking lots can be found at the Dorfteich (north side) and on the east side of the island (Üp De Hiir/Lörkiwai), but the municipal council has decided to introduce parking fees throughout the town in the future.

This decision in List is made to be citizen-friendly, customer-friendly, and tourism-friendly, as stated by the municipal spokesman.
