The railway association "Freunde der Eisenbahn" (Friends of the Railway) has announced that they will be running the Hogwarts Express scenic tour through Hesse on October 3rd. The tour, which is expected to be a destination in itself, will take passengers on a nostalgic trip reminiscent of the 60s.
The journey of the locomotive will cost a five-figure amount, and the association must cover these costs to make the trips possible. To do this, they need at least 70 passengers to attend each trip. Member Thomas Eberhardt revealed in an FFH interview that the trips would take place if about 300 passengers per trip attend.
The locomotive for the tour will be chartered from friendly railway clubs, and the association will also need to pay for coal and maintain the carriages. In addition to these expenses, the rental of the track is another cost that will be incurred for the scenic tour.
As a volunteer association, Freunde der Eisenbahn is not able to cover additional costs beyond ticket sales. If the trips are cancelled, already purchased tickets will be refunded. The association will decide by the beginning of the following week if the trips on October 3rd can take place, based on ticket sales.
The scenic tour will start and end in Treysa, and it will stop at Marburg, Butzbach, and Offenbach along the way. The trains will travel through Hesse at a speed of 90 km/h, providing passengers with a unique and unforgettable experience.
