Almaty Businesses Adopt Ashyq App to Control COVID-19 Spread

Almaty's businesses are embracing technology to manage COVID-19 safety. The Ashyq app, available on the app store, is now in use, allowing visitors entry to certain premises while preventing those with 'red' or 'yellow' status from entering.

The Ashyq app, developed by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, is currently in pilot mode in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, and Karaganda. Around 15,000 users and 99 business establishments are participating nationwide.

In Almaty, about 27 establishments are using the app, including a hotel complex in the Medau district. The hotel's manager, Makpal Taldybayeva, ensures that only those with 'green' or 'blue' status can enter to prevent infection transmission. The app is free and aims to enforce self-isolation rules among residents under quarantine.

The city's chief sanitary doctor, Zhandarbek Bekshin, has signed a new decree introducing several restrictions. A person's COVID-19 status is determined by four colors: green, blue, red, and yellow, with 'red' indicating a positive test result and 'yellow' being a listed contact.

The Ashyq app is proving useful in Almaty's fight against COVID-19, with around 27 establishments adopting its use. The app helps enforce safety measures and prevents those with 'red' or 'yellow' status from entering public spaces, contributing to the city's efforts to control the virus's spread.
