Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Grand Party
Bremerhaven, August 16, 2025 — Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences celebrated its 50th anniversary in style, with a grand party that took place as part of the Sail Bremerhaven 2025 festival.
The festivities commenced with a lively music program, starting with the samba drum group "SchlickSticks" and regional DJs. The highlight of the musical program was a performance by the local band RAUM27, who have strong ties to Bremerhaven. Several thousand visitors gathered at Theodor-Heuss-Platz to enjoy the music and festivities.
The celebration was the grand finale of three days of varied events. On August 14, there were open-air lectures and campus tours titled "City Campus meets SAiL," providing insight into the university's offerings and atmosphere, especially for prospective students and the general public.
August 15 featured "Hochschule international – celebrating diverse cultures," where international students shared their home countries' cultures through food, music, dance, and games, supported by the Centre for Equal Opportunities and Diversity.

The 50th anniversary celebration showcased the university's vibrant community, combining academic, cultural, and social activities integrated with the city's maritime festival atmosphere. The event included open-air lectures and a cultural program, with fans securing the best spots in front of the stage in the morning.
The anniversary party was organised by students Shirin Hasan and Omar Faroque, with the support of Gudrun Zimmermann. The event was a testament to the university's commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, where students can thrive and contribute to sustainable developments through their research activities.
RAUM27 is a widely known band, and their performance was the perfect way to conclude the anniversary celebration. The university has more than 20 practical and innovative study programs, and around 3,000 students benefit from the close cooperation with the regional economy and modern teaching methods.
