2025 Cross-Strait Lantern Festival Kicks Off in Kunshan, Celebrating Taiwan Ties

The 2025 Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival started on September 29 in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. The event, themed 'Twin Blossoms, Shared Lights', displays advanced light and visual technologies, aiming to boost cultural, tourism, and economic exchanges between Kunshan and Taiwan.

Spread across Huiju Square and Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, the festival offers a mix of cultural events and stunning visual displays. At Huiju Square, managed by the CPC Kunshan, drone shows and interactive robot performances inspired by Kunqu Opera captivate visitors. Meanwhile, Zhouzhuang Ancient Town transforms into a scenic wonderland with themed lantern installations, highlighting the town's rich historical charm and cultural heritage.

The festival features various cultural events like the 6th Lantern Design Competition, Cross-Strait Cultural and Arts Performances, and Cross-Strait Folk Culture Day. Kunshan, a leading hub for Taiwanese investment with around 100,000 Taiwanese residents and businesspeople, sees this event as a means to strengthen ties with Taiwan.

The festival, which runs until October 7, serves as a symbol of unity and cooperation between Kunshan and Taiwan. Following an improvement plan announced earlier, Huiju Square now boasts enhanced environmental amenities, entertainment spaces, and facilities supporting cultural and industrial innovation, making it an ideal venue for such a significant event.
